I realize it's not that late, but I've been trying to go to sleep now for almost 2 hours, and I can't. I finally turned the light on and grabbed the laptop. LUCKILY Jesse can sleep through literally anything.. he is passed out next to me. :)
Jesse and I had a really nice Valentine's Day this year. I have never been a Valentine's type of girl, I don't quite understand the big deal of the holiday itself. It's a nice holiday, in the sense that you usually spend it with the one's you love, but everything else is just a little ridiculous.
This year I had planned on cooking for Jesse. I have NEVER cooked Jesse dinner. I have cooked him breakfast a time or two and we've cooked many times together. But i have never once, had a meal prepared for Jesse when he got home from work or school. That being said, I was so excited/nervous.
The morning started out by me going to whole foods and the grocery store to pick up some gluten free goods, and food for dinner. Jesse had NO idea.. he kept saying, "take it easy today, i will go pick up groceries on my way home from school." I played along with it of course, agreeing that i would do just what he said.
I had been thinking of what to make for a couple weeks. Last year we cooked steak, so I wanted to do something a little different. I kept thinking I wanted to make a lobster.. a real, live, lobster. But I didn't want to have to talk to anyone when i went to the grocery store (hahaha). So I went to the grocery store, found some pre-cut lobster tail and decided to go with that. I picked up some steak as well (because it's Jesse's favorite) and a few other things before heading home.
I cleaned the whole house and then i got the phone call that Jesse was on his way home....early! OH no! I wasn't finished making dinner.. I had the chocolate covered strawberries made, the potaoes peeled/cut, the aspargus cut/seasoned, and the meat marinating. So it was going to have to be good enough.. *side note* you know when you have these ideas in your head about how things will go, and they never seem to play out the way you had planned? This was one of those times.. But when Jesse got home the first thing he yelled was, "it smells so good in here!!" He was so surprised and so excited. It was such a perfect surprise for my awesome husband. I love him tons!
steak, lobster tail, mashed potatoes, asparugus, and sparkling cider. YUM.
i made chocolate covered strawberries for dessert
